Some useful tips to learn!

Recently, I had been making clothes for my Nendoroid Dolls. While majority of them are coming from a particular series in which I loved most, I continue to make them as many as I can! And I wanted to make use of my newly-acquired talent as possible!

So then, I started from scratch. Tried every possible combinations of strategies and patterns, and so on. But did you know that I had done many trial and errors? This is how I learn from my mistakes. So in this post topic, I am going to show to you some tips or advices on how to effectively sew or make your own Nendoroid Doll clothes with your own hands and talents. This may not be effective, but somehow these guides will give you some points. I know that there are many guides, tips, and advices there, but I am going to give you some to help you.

Plan Your Design Very Well!

Well, you can’t start making some clothes without planning first with your design! Of course, this will include the patterns, materials, and some props to be used in your NendoDoll clothes construction! Well, it is just a truth that this tip will give you some prompt to be prepared always, at least.

Don’t Lose Patience!

I had been through with several attempts, trial and errors, and even throwing away my unfinished project, though I can barely close to finishing it. I had learned that patience is necessary to achieve your goal. Just remember, be patient. Time will always come and you can successfully make the clothes design that you really wanted in your imaginative mind to come true.

Again, be patient when you work with your NendoDoll clothes project. Just make every stitch count, and if you had overlooked it, just step backwards and try to correct that mistake.

Find Inspirations!

Some of my NendoDoll clothes are originally stitched by hands, and some are machine-sewn. If I am using a reference as a guide, I tried remixing it with something that I am seeing around (whether it is from Anime or other series/genre). After that, I combine them, thus I can output another project in my mind. This is how I can output anything that comes from my mind, thus I can turn them into a NendoDoll clothes by myself.

Another thing is that I am following some folks at Twitter (or Instagram) with the mutual topics that I am looking for. When I look at their works, I am inspired. Someday, I can do something like that when the time comes. The only thing is that I should be patient enough to study the results of their works.

Without inspiration, you can’t output anything. The only thing you must do is to follow, observe, study, and then work, when you can! Sometimes, you can’t just copy what can be seen. You must still find a way on how you can create one, which is somehow unique and different from the one that you had seen. In other words, you must create an original clothing work by yourself.

You Give Up, You Lose!

At the moment that you give up, just before you even finish it, you lose! Remember that not everything can be done or be finished properly in just one go. Sometimes, you will fail at first; not everybody gets it for the first time. Remember that it is ‘trial-and-error’ scheme. You just need to learn from your mistakes. And you must realize that everything must fail first before getting it right for the second or next tries.

Remember the famous scientist, Thomas Edison, who created his first light bulb? Basically, it is just the same as creating my NendoDoll clothes.

Just Be Yourself and Believe.

I had created some NendoDoll clothes by myself and some of my works are really ugly at all (in the sense that some stitches are incomplete, or even the hems are falling out). Even though it is like that, I never stopped believing and I still move on.

Though I can see those as ugly or even having their stitches as incomplete or even having their inner hems frayed, still some of my followers do really liked my clothing designs. I do believe that I should continue to do something like that, since I also believe that I can do improve by repeated practice of sewing and designing.

For you, even if your works are not even good, continue to do it with all of your heart. It is because all of your works are all you, after all.

Concluding Post

Those things above are the points in which I had in mind when I sew my clothes. Just remember that it is only you who control everything. You must therefore strive to not give up and always try again. This is how someone like me grow and improve, and therefore perseverance and patience is a must to achieve what you desire.

Thank you for reading and I hope that some of these points above can help! I know that there are more advices there, but the best thing to do is to research them by yourself!

Cheers everyone!
